May 4, 2024 19:01 - Unrest at Shishaldin Volcano continues, with occasional periods of volcanic tremor and intermittent earthquake activity observed over the past day. Minor steaming from the summit crater was observed in satellite and web camera images from yesterday afternoon. The last significant ash-producing eruption occurred in November 2023. Local seismic and infrasound sensors, web cameras, and a geodetic network are used to monitor Shishaldin Volcano. In addition to the local monitoring network, AVO uses nearby geophysical networks, regional infrasound and lighting data, and ...

May 2, 2024 18:52 - Seismicity beneath Mauna Loa's summit and upper-elevation flanks has been low over the past month; approximately 47 small-magnitude earthquakes (below M2.5) were detected, which is expected for the post-eruption phase of this volcano. There were approximately 5 earthquakes deeper than 13 km (8 mi).Data from Global Positioning System (GPS) instruments on Mauna Loa, record a very slight inflationary trend near the summit as the volcano recovers from the 2022 eruption, and magma replenishes the reservoir system. Gas and temperature data from a station on Mauna Loa's ...

HVO Kama'ehuakanaloa UNASSIGNED/UNASSIGNED - No activity of concern for Kamaʻehuakanaloa.

May 2, 2024 18:52 - No significant activity was detected at Kamaʻehuakanaloa volcano (formerly Lōʻihi Seamount) during the past month. Seismic activity remained low and was representative of background activity levels at the volcano; all earthquakes were of small magnitudes (below M3.0).

HVO Hualalai GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Hualālai.

May 2, 2024 18:52 - No significant activity was detected at Hualālai volcano during the past month. Seismic activity remained low, and was representative of background activity levels at the volcano; all earthquakes were of small magnitudes (below M3.0). The continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument on Hualālai recorded no significant deformation in the past month.

HVO Haleakala GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Haleakalā.

May 2, 2024 18:52 - No significant activity was detected at Haleakalā volcano during the past month. HVO seismometers recorded no earthquakes in the vicinity of the volcano. The continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument on Haleakalā was offline for all of February and remains offline but no changes are suspected.

HVO Mauna Kea GREEN/NORMAL - No activity of concern for Mauna Kea.

May 2, 2024 18:52 - No significant activity was detected at Mauna Kea volcano during the past month. Seismic activity remained low, and was representative of background activity levels at the volcano; all earthquakes were of small magnitudes (below M3.0). The continuously recording Global Positioning System (GPS) instrument on Mauna Kea (MKPM, operated by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory) recorded no significant deformation in the past month.

YVO Yellowstone GREEN/NORMAL - YVO Monthly Update: background seismicity and deformation

May 1, 2024 15:56 - Recent Work and NewsSteamboat Geyser erupted on April 3—the second major water eruption of the geyser so far in 2024.May means the start of the field season in Yellowstone, and teams will be in the park setting up the seasonal semi-permanent GPS network and performing maintenance on continuous monitoring sites in the latter half of the month. During May 20-22, members of the Yellowstone Volcano Observatory consortium will also gather in Mammoth Hot Springs for the biennial coordination meeting, where they will share scientific results and discuss monitoring and research ...

CALVO GREEN/NORMAL - CA volcanoes were at normal background levels of seismicity and deformation during the past week.

Monitored volcanoes include Mount Shasta, Medicine Lake Volcano, Lassen Volcanic Center, Clear Lake Volcanic Field, Long Valley Volcanic Region, Coso Volcanic Field, Ubehebe Craters, and Salton Buttes.Past Week Observations for April 22, 2024 (0000h PDT) to April 28, 2024 (2359h PDT)Four earthquakes greater than M1 were recorded near the Lassen Volcanic ...

NMI Ahyi Seamount UNASSIGNED/UNASSIGNED - Nothing noteworthy was observed in the vicinity of Ahyi seamount.

Apr 11, 2024 23:06 - No activity was observed in satellite views of the Ahyi Seamount area over the past week. Likewise, AVO received no definitive hydroacoustic detections of submarine volcanic activity. Because of the apparent lack of activity, the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level for Ahyi Seamount were lowered to UNASSIGNED on April 9, 2024.There are no local monitoring stations near Ahyi Seamount, which limits our ability to detect and characterize volcanic unrest there. We will continue to monitor available remote underwater pressure sensors, and seismic and satellite data ...

AVO Atka volcanic complex GREEN/NORMAL - Activity has returned to background levels; Aviation Color Code and Alert ...

Apr 9, 2024 15:34 - Volcanic activity at the Atka volcanic complex has decreased since a small explosion was detected from the summit crater of Korovin, one of several volcanoes there, on March 27 (AKDT). Although occasional small earthquakes and weak volcanic tremor continue to be observed, the current activity is at background levels. Due to this decrease in activity, the Alaska Volcano Observatory is lowering the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level to GREEN/NORMAL.

AVO Spurr GREEN/NORMAL - Conditions at Mount Spurr volcano have improved and AVO is receiving data from earthquake and ...

Apr 5, 2024 00:30 - Conditions at Mount Spurr volcano have improved and AVO is receiving data from earthquake monitoring stations and a remote web camera at the volcano 120 km (75 miles) west of Anchorage. Data are now sufficient to establish the state of the volcano. As a result, the Aviation Color Code and Volcano Alert Level are changed to GREEN/NORMAL. Summary A thick winter snowpack prevented data transmission from seismic stations on Mount Spurr volcano to AVO in Anchorage. Conditions on the volcano have improved recently. In addition, following work at the Anchorage receive facility ...
